Mobile UX Designer

Mobile Developer for Android / iOS needed for our growing Cork City Office.

Carma is looking for a Mobile Developer with excellent knowledge of JavaScript, native mobile app development and the intricacies of mobile fragmentation.

You will be involved in helping real people in the real world through the development of our native iOS and Android apps and our web site, mostly written in Appcelerator Titanium. You’ll be part of a purpose-driven team that delights in producing awe-inspiring functionality!

What we’re looking for:

  • 3 years + mobile app development
  • At least one of Android or iOS native development in Java or Objective C
  • 5 years + with core web technologies (HTML5, Javascript, Ajax, DOM, CSS3)
  • Exposure to Design Patterns
  • Javascript library experience (Q, Backbone, Angular, Meteor, jQuery etc.)
  • Experience with refactoring and code quality
  • Ability to work independently from assignment through completion
  • An eye for design and layout
  • Usability experience
  • Examples of previous work are essential.
  • We will consider sponsoring applicants from outside the EU for work permit purposes, depending on their experience level, relevant to this position

    What our Mobile UX Designer job is about:

  • Initiating, suggesting and spearheading mobile UX improvements
  • Developing conceptual diagrams, wireframes, visual mockups and prototypes
  • Delivering designs and prototypes to UI specifications for engineering
  • Carmapooling regularly to test prototypes in the real world and build relationships with Carma’s users
  • Working closely with product management and engineering teams
  • Ensuring simplified user experience design despite system complexity
  • Advocating on behalf of Carmapoolers around the world
  • What we’re looking for in our Mobile UX Designer:

  • Information architecture background
  • Awesome portfolio of mobile UX projects
  • Passion for UX design and intuitive empathy for everyday users
  • Proven ability to turn complex design challenges into elegant solutions
  • Proficiency in a variety of methods to convey ideas and concepts (e.g. storyboards, wireframes, prototypes, etc)
  • Demonstrated ability to work with a blank slate and inspire others
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills
