Mobile Developer for Android / iOS needed for our growing Cork City Office.

Carma is looking for a Mobile Developer with excellent knowledge of JavaScript, native mobile app development and the intricacies of mobile fragmentation.

You will be involved in helping real people in the real world through the development of our native iOS and Android apps and our web site, mostly written in Appcelerator Titanium. You’ll be part of a purpose-driven team that delights in producing awe-inspiring functionality!

What we’re looking for:

  • 3 years + mobile app development
  • At least one of Android or iOS native development in Java or Objective C
  • 5 years + with core web technologies (HTML5, Javascript, Ajax, DOM, CSS3)
  • Exposure to Design Patterns
  • Javascript library experience (Q, Backbone, Angular, Meteor, jQuery etc.)
  • Experience with refactoring and code quality
  • Ability to work independently from assignment through completion
  • An eye for design and layout
  • Usability experience

We are now recruiting for a Senior Java Engineer to join our expanding and dynamic team in Cork city centre.

    What the job is about:

  • Design and implement scalable REST APIs capable of scaling to large volumes of users
  • Develop server software using Spring, RestEasy, EJB3.1 and JPA2 on JBoss AS 7
  • Help drive efficiencies with the flexibility to introduce new technologies such as java 8, WildFly, nosql, big data
  • Creation and maintenance of functioning and testable code
  • Support testing and operations by QA and other groups
  • Liaise with other development teams, product management and sales
  • What we’re looking for:

  • 5+ years Java / J2EE development experience
  • Architecture experience
  • Strong Database experience (ideally MySQL)
  • Data analysis, business intelligence, Big Data
  • Strong security background
  • Experience of working within an agile development framework
  • Great interpersonal and communication skills

  • Requirements:

  • A minimum of 3 year’s experience designing for mobile
  • Awesome portfolio of mobile UX projects (without which you might not be considered)

    Responsibilities:

  • Assist with social media marketing development, such as writing content for Facebook and Twitter posts, gathering content for Instagram, manning tweet decks to respond to customers, and helping write blog articles.
  • Bring new marketing and PR ideas about where and how we can spread the good Carma vibe in San Francisco, and help us implement them!
  • Be the face of Carma for event tabling and outreach at various employers, or other community events as needed.
  • Respond to inbound email or message questions from local Carma users.
  • Develop processes and procedures to optimize community growth and communication.
  • Requirements:

  • 1+ years of related experience
  • Excellent copywriting/editing skills (writing sample required).
  • Passion for building communities - experience in community outreach, tabling and event planning a plus.
  • Ability to work with a dynamic, international team.
  • Quick learner who is a tech-savvy app-lover, and can easily adopt new technologies.
  • Tenacity, game for any task, and revel in change.
  • A high level of intellectual curiosity and endless creativity.
  • Autonomy – self-sufficient, good at budgeting your time, and will excel in taking on new responsibilities as they come up.
  • Full, clean Driver License with minimum 3 (?) years driving experience
